Permits

In Suffolk County film permitting is done at the most local municipal level.  The County is comprised of 10 Towns and 32 incorporated villages.  Most permitting and insurance filing are done at either the Town or Village level.

Exceptions are for filming on county owned property, including all county parks, the Gabreski Airport in Westhampton Beach, and all other facilities.

The Department of the Interior issues permits for some areas of the Fire Island National Seashore.  Other areas are under the jurisdiction of Villages or Towns.

New York State Department of Parks issues film permits for state parks located within Suffolk County.

Please go to the Production Guide part of this website and complete a Suffolk County Production Request Form during pre-production to access all available county services, including police assistance.  We will determine where you will need to file insurance and apply for a permit.

The following permits are available online, which can be filled out and sent to the appropriate contact stated on the permit:
Suffolk County Parks Department
Town of East Hampton
Village of East Hampton
Town of Southampton

Please note that there are a number of Towns and Villages in Suffolk County that do not charge permit fees.   The Suffolk County Film Office will be happy to work with you to identify liaisons in each Town and Village to assist you with obtaining permits and clearances for your project.  Below is a file listing all Incorporated Villages in Suffolk County .
